Surrey Children’s Book Award

The lovely Tiger Tale was shortlisted for the Surrey Children’s Book Award, and I went to the awards ceremony on Friday. Huge thanks to the lovely librarian organisers, and to all the amazing children at the Champion Schools. They read all the books, talked about them, argued about them and then voted for them. Plus they performed amazing sketches, songs and dances at the ceremony! Special mention to Salfords School, for their fab song about all the books, performed to Don’t Stop Believin’! The winner was Georgia Pritchett for Wilf the Might Worrier Saves the World, which looks fantastic!

School visits

I’ve been on some lovely school visits recently – it’s so nice to get out and meet the people the books are for!

Excitingly, A Tiger Tale has been nominated for the Surrey Libraries Children’s Book Award, so I visited Claygate Primary School and Laleham C of E Primary School, who are Champion Schools – they get to choose the winner of the award. Have a look at the award blog for some lovely photos, especially the amazing tiger display from Laleham Primary. There will be an award ceremony at the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill, on Friday 6th May!

I also went to Clatford Primary School in Andover (on my way to Malta!) and was given some beautiful drawings.
