A Girl’s Guide to Spying – the first book in a new series!
I’m so excited to share this new book with everyone next year! A Girl’s Guide to Spying is the first book in my new series, The Rose Patrol Mysteries. It’s a spy story, a detective story, a historical novel and an adventure for anyone who loves strong girl characters – all in one book! It was inspired by the real Girl Guides who worked as messengers at MI5 during the First World War. Here are some of them, this phot was taken at the end of the war.
They were so good at their job that some of them were taken to the Peace Conference at Versailles at the end of the war to be messengers there. So many badges!
I’ve loved researching and writing this book so much. I’ve been part of Girlguiding for over 40 years. This is me as a Brownie.
And as a Guide. No idea why I’ve got my eyes closed. This was on a Guide camp, reading one of my favourite Sherlock Holmes books.
I’ve been a Brownie and then Guide leader (and now both!) for 28 years, and it’s wonderful to share some of the fun and wildness and brilliance of Girlguiding with readers!
This is the proof copy cover – I don’t have a final copy of the book yet, I’m just working on the last proof corrections!
I can’t wait for this book to be published in February next year…
